An underground DJ and
Electronic music producer.
Early Life
His parents named him Boréas Isaias Orozco, but he quickly earned the nickname “Zappy”, always on the move with a contagious, positive energía. Of course that energy often led him into trouble, especially at school. Zapatekno could never focus on homework, always tapping beats on the desk or doodling ideas for later. He was a misunderstood kid, but his kindness and big sonrisa made it impossible for anyone to stay mad at him for long.
Finding Music in Jalisco
In high school he started connecting with musicians who ran underground events around Jalisco. He worked part time at a coffee shop to save up for gear, and with his natural charm he had no problem convincing event planners to let him play a few sets. Little by little he realized that as much as he loved mixing other people’s tracks, he had too many ideas of his own that needed to come to life.
Influences and the Birth of ZAPATEKNO
His influences were all over the place, from Latin and reggaeton to hip hop, but the pulse of techno had a hypnotizing, calming effect on his high-energy espíritu. Those sounds started weaving into everything he created, and that’s how the name “ZAPATEKNO” was born. Around that time he became close friends with a producer known as “Homosquito”, who shared his vision of starting a small boutique label in Guadalajara. He wanted Zapatekno to be the first artist they signed. Zappy jokes that he’s also the label’s unofficial recruiter, since his charm has helped bring in several other artists along the way.

ZAPATEKNOD.N.A
The dance floor as a space of liberation. Where the body sets the rules and the beat is the law.
Raw, leather, and a synthesizer that sounds like a western. The aesthetic of the Mexican west but reimagined.
Jalisco is my DNA. Tapatío energy. Unfiltered, untranslated, uncut.
Mis
Nueves
The debut album from ZAPATEKNO, loaded with energy, flesh, and movement. Nine tracks that build a universe between the vaquero cantina and a club that never closes.

Flakes was written by an American ginger I had met off Grindr. It was initially a sad song about this man being stood up. Maybe I’ll convince him to release it one day, when us gay men need to cry.
Every time I hear a new track from Lil’ ITH, I’m inspired to take it to the club. Butchy was unique to me as it’s rare to hear songs from the lesbian relationship perspective. Do they even go out?
I’ve noticed like animals, sometimes gay men are in heat, in unison... it’s strange. The phone with be sending notifications nonstop, people I haven’t heard from in years want another round. I call this “Hoe Season” Full swing.
What can I say? I love to remix.
The album that's been building. Nine tracks deep. Thick bass.
